Senior Pacific Panamax Chartering Manager

A leading international ship operating firm is looking for a Panamax Chartering Manager to be based in its Singapore office.

Responsibilities:

  • A senior member of the Pacific Ocean Region Panamax Platform responsible for business development strategy.
  • Negotiate deals (Time Charter / Voyage Charter, in and out), charter-in/out of tonnage to cover contractual obligations of the company including presenting the business to potential clients, negotiating all the terms and conditions of contracts through to conclusion.
  • Work with the team to help develop market intelligence and freight and commodities research that influence the supply and demand of freight markets.
  • Developing new business and clients. Help expand and grow the business by strategically increasing trading volumes.
  • Work effectively with other internal parties to leverage cross-functional opportunities, and to ensure cohesive communication and consistency in both strategy and execution.
  • Preparing charter parties and/or other necessary shipping documentation.
  • Maintain contact with brokers/clients and business trips as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Good quality undergraduate degree from recognized institution or other shipping qualification.
  • 5-8 years' experience working on the cargo or tonnage side with ship owners or ship operators.
  • Good knowledge of Pacific Panamax dry bulk trades.
  • Dynamic and ambitious team player with a proven track record in chartering.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers, brokers and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills and English language proficiency is essential and knowledge of an Asian language an advantage.
