Ref : AFMJD35854 Handy, Supramax and Panamax Shipbrokers - Major Broking Group - Dubai

An international shipbroking group, with offices worldwide, has asked us to source Handysize up to Panamax shipbrokers, to join their office in Dubai.

Candidates should have, ideally, a minimum of 3 years' experience, but senior brokers can also be considered.

It is not necessary to be a local, but knowledge of the dry bulk cargo shipping industry in the Middle East and Indian Ocean markets will be very useful (and other areas in addition will be an advantage. The successful candidate will almost certainly be from a shipping or broking company background.


  • Liaising with the candidate's and company's existing clients and assisting the activities of staff in other offices in their business in the relevant market
  • Fixing cargoes and/or vessels as required
  • Developing new business and clients
  • Preparing charter parties and/or other necessary shipping documentation
  • Undertaking business trips to see clients, as necessary


  • Good quality undergraduate degree or shipping qualification from a recognized institution. FICS/MICS would also be preferred
  • Preferably at least 3 years of work experience in the shipping industry (commercial shipping, active Supply or Demand side or shipbroking)
  • Senior brokers can also be considered
  • Experience in developing customer relationships and credibility in engaging with customers at different levels
  • Experience in negotiation
  • Evidence of solution selling (identifying customer needs, issues and building solutions to match)
  • Experience and success in diverse teams to deliver solutions
  • Evidence of industry networking
  • Good communication skills and business fluency in English
